The art of healing in modern medicine
In modern day medicine, there is drive for more technologically advanced therapies and modalities of investigations. The following articles discuss what is the state of the art of healing in modern medicine?
Current medical professionals and educators are focused on improving good medicine and practice. Nevertheless, Modern technology or new developments alone has failed to bring good medicine into practice. The concept of healing has not been encouraged in medical practice. This has started to create many intellectual discussions among many health experts/physicians and another therapist.
- Can modern technology alone satisfy the requirement in modern medicine?
- Can Physicians gain the trust of patients only with treatments and modern investigations?
- What is the new concept of the state of the art of healing in modern medicine?
Many medical educators are exploring the concept of integrating the art of healing into modern medicine. The new concept promotes that medical students must be taught the dual physician role of professional and healer. In every patient, the physician can practice the art of healing. Practitioners must balance modern medicine and holistic healing. According to this article, it is highlighted that medicines operate in the body without intelligence. Human body’s natural healing process has features emotional intelligence which means “the right thing” happens “at the right time”. It is well believed that the body’s natural healing process has no side effects which is an added advantage.
As highlighted here, when the body is in harmony and functioning normally, the body’s innate capacity to heal is far more powerful than drugs. Physicians and patients need to understand that body has intelligence and chemicals to function well and use chemicals properly without giving side effects.
In summary, scientists believe that the body has every chemical required and the intelligence to use these chemicals without any side effects.
Homeostasis and self–healing
In traditional methods, musculoskeletal pain management or pain management clinics mainly focus on the use of conventional treatment method to manage pain. At modern times, “multi-modal integrative medicine” and alternative /complementary treatments are becoming more widely used and popular among patients. This article emphasize that body has an inherent ability to self – heal, which can be optimized by using “integrative medical strategies”. It further highlights that the mechanism by which the body reacts to triggers and initiates the self- healing process is complex process.
In this process there are 5 networks which play an integral mechanism.
- “The nervous system”
- “Microcirculation/ vasodilatation”
- “Immune modulation”
- “Muscular relaxation/ contraction”
- “Psychological balance”
Multi-modal integrative medicine approaches include:
- “Nutritional/ dietary modification”
- “Postural/ muscular training exercises “
- “Cognitive behavioural mind/body techniques”
This is very in-depth research and understanding into how the body and cell is functioning in healing. The advanced research has managed to fathom the root cause of how the body and energy system imbalance occurs and how this intelligence can be used to find treatment.
